Pastor Billie R. Keller

New Macedonia M.B.C. Pastor

Pastor Billie R. Keller was born in Houston, Texas and moved to California in 1988. He is a product of the Houston Independent School District. He was 12 years old when he heard God’s call on his life to preach. He didn’t speak or preach until he was 17 years old, when he preached his first sermon on August 26, 1967.

Pastor began his journey at Greater Galilee Baptist Church as a minister. In November 1987 Pastor Keller married his God sent soulmate, Betty Griffin. They have been married for over 32 years. From August, 1988 to November, 1989, they both ministered at New Revelation Missionary Baptist Church in Pasadena, California, under the pastoral leadership of Pastor William Turner. While at New Revelation, Pastor Keller served as an Assistant Pastor and Betty as the Minister of Music. In 1989 Pastor Keller pastored his first church in California, which was and has been New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. .

Pastor Keller’s ministry spans not only locally in the City of Pasadena, but throughout the United states. He unfailingly visits hospitals, convalescent home, he is known to travel to visit those outside of California when called to support ailing or mourning members and their family. Our Pastor is an “old soul.” He is a wise, patient man of God, an awesome teacher and speaker, admired by all he meets. He is also known for his singing ministry particularly of the hymns of the church and his phenomenal cooking abilities.

He has blessed babies, baptized and married couples and in some cases, their children and or their grandchildren. He has attended numerous graduations of members and non-members and sadly buried their loved ones. Many of our members who have been hospitalized or been extremely ill, can vouch that when they opened their eyes Pastor and his wife are standing bed-side, praying over them. Every time we need him, he is always there. Many of our membership are known to say, “I wouldn’t leave this church for anything.” Would you believe most of the membership have Pastor’s cell, work and home phone number.

Of his 50 years of Christian service, Pastor has faithfully served here at New Macedonia MBC for over 30 years. He is not one for a lot of attention and fanfare, but always acknowledges and gives all the praise and glory to God. Pastor says serving the Lord for 50 years has been quite a joy. He had once said, “After 50 years in the ministry, he would retire from Pastoring”. However, neither God nor the congregation at New Macedonia M.B.C. will allow that to happen.
